Join us as the American Girl Club presents a play about Felicity Merriman, a colonial girl struggling for independence in 1774.
Tea for Felicity is a 20-minute play about Felicity's life in 1774. Felicity Merriman is a nine-year-old colonial girl living in Williamsburg, Virigina, who struggles for her own independence. Felicity Merriman began lessons in fine stitchery and the proper way to serve tea. Felicity meets Elizabeth and her sister Annabelle, who have recently arrived from England. Felicity and Elizabeth quickly become good friends. It is just before the American Revolution and many colonists want independence from England. To protest the rule of the King of England and to seek independence from the king, Felicity's father refuses to buy, sell, or drink tea. Tea for Felicity tells the story of Felicity's desire to become independent while remaining loyal to her family, her friends, and herself. Learning about Felicity's struggle for independence will help you imagine what it was like to grow up in Felicity's time.
