American Red Cross Babysitter’s Boot Camp

The Trussville Library is partnering with the American Red Cross to offer a two day Babysitter’s Boot Camp. The classes will be held in the meeting room on Friday and Saturday, June 21st from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM and June 22nd from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM. The fee is $140.00 and includes all of their training manuals-A Babysitter’s Handbook, an Emergency Reference Guide and includes a CD-ROM with additional materials including business card and resume templates; emergency preparedness information; a downloadable activity booklet with games and quizzes; and activity worksheets and fact sheets for the additional lessons.

The student’s receive 2 certificates upon successful completion of the course:

Babysitter’s Training – no expiration date
Pediatric CPR and First Aid – valid for 2 years from course completion date.

Call the American Red Cross Training Support Center (TSC) at 1-800-733-2767 option #3 and when registering your son/daughter for the the Babysitting class, the student’s name must be give to the TSC agent so that the certificate has the student’s name not the parent’s name.

Payment of $140 is required at time of registration

Sign up for the Summer Reading program in the Children’s Department for babies through children entering 5th grade will begin Wendesday, June 5th and will continue throughout the summer.

Children who sign up will receive a bag containing:

          Calendar
          Reading Log
          Instruction Sheet
          Bookmark
          Coloring Sheet
          and more!

Fix that Taurus and find a book

Are you tired of looking at that Taurus parked under the tree wishing you had that Chilton’s so you could replace that alternator? Well check out the Auto Repair Reference Center.

Now that you have that Taurus back on the road you are probably ready for some new reading material. Since you are all up to date on Alex Cross you probably want to find some read-a-likes, good news with Novelist you can do just that.

You will need your barcode from your jclc library card (look on the Taurus key ring), it will start with 21405.

If you have any trouble accessing these resources please let us know at 655-2022 and choose the adult department option 3 once the recording starts.

Little Pim is here

The Trussville Public Library is very excited to announce the additon of
Little Pim – a language learing course for children ages 0-6. This program
offers interactive lessons in: Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Hebrew, Italian,
Japanese, Russian, or Spanish. English is also available for foreign speakers.
Little Pim is available within the Trussville Public Library as well as at home for
Trussville residents with a valid library card.

National Cookie & Book Month

The Trussville Public Library would like to give a big “Thank You” to our friends at Great American Cookies right here in Trussville. October is National Cookie & Book month, and that means it is time for their annual book drive. During the month of October, bring a new or gently used book to Great American Cookies located at the Pinnacle, and you will get a free cookie. At the end of the month, many of the books they receive will be donated to the Trussville Public Library.
