Thursday, June 5 @ 12pm Lunch and a movie. Join us for a film about the pleasure of books and the special correspondence between a book-loving New York writer and the London bookseller who fulfills her orders and enriches her life. Set in the years after WWII. Sandwiches will be served.

Tuesday, June 10 @ 6pm: Learn about snakes with Yarbrough’s educational and entertaining Reptile Program. Reptile experts for over 40 years, the Yarbroughs aim to calm our fears and address misconceptions about snakes and other reptiles. They are also knowledgeable about the latest techniques in first aid treatment for venomous and nonvenomous snake bites.

Monday, June 16 @ 6pm: Jennifer Conn of The Farmhouse will show us how putting a rainbow in your bowl gives you more nutrition in every bite with her “Rainbowl Connection” cooking demonstration. She will prepare and share a delicious and colorful vegetable recipe.

Tuesday, June 24 @ 6pm: Sallie Lee, Jefferson Co. Extension agent, will share tips for a successful summer garden. She will discuss such topics as soil preparation, beneficial insects, native plants that support habitat, food sources for butterflies and bees, and can answer a variety of gardening questions!

Tuesday, July 1 @ 6pm: Pizza and a Movie. Join us for a movie about a world-travelling woman seeking fulfillment in mind, body, and spirit. Described by Roger Ebert as “a Harlequin novel crossed with a mystic travelogue.” Pizza will be served.

Monday, July 7 @ 6pm: Explore your creativity with Michelle Reynolds, crafter, writer, and blogger for “Made & Remade” on She will guide us in a collage craft project using recycled materials.

Monday, July 14 @ 6pm: Feeling stressed? Learn how to relieve tension and feel better through exercise and movement with Julie Watters, the “Happy Fit Camper” Bring a yoga mat if you have one; extras will be provided for those who do not.

Tuesday, July 22 @ 6pm: Fused glass art from DIY Crafts. DIY Crafts from Homewood will guide us in making beautiful fused glass art pieces. After the pieces are constructed, DIY Crafts will fire them in their kiln for you to pick up later at the library.
